Picture someone looking at you like you were not only insane... but stupid as well...

I love to work with the horses and having horses that like to prance about looking good would make one think of all the opportunities there are out in society to show them off.

We ventured out to a parade the other day.  I love driving my horses and they like to get dressed
up and do their thing, so it seemed like a good idea.

Only a few instances of minor distress came up.  When I pulled into the staging site, I parked beside another float being prepared by a group of ladies.

Of course, our big girl is always a hit in public, not only for her size but her nearly white coat.  There were a lot of people coming over and wanting to pet her.  No problem except for the coating of fragrance most of them were doused in.  I can handle small inhalations, but one instance a lady came
around the end of the horse trailer and the reek came before her.  She was about to say something when I had to cut her off.  I was trapped with my hands full, standing on a bench holding the heavy harness up and warned her politely but firmly that I was very allergic to her perfume and she needed to back away...  Had I told her I had contagious LICE, her look couldn't have been any more precious.  It could have melted me, but she left.

First chance I got, I moved the ENTIRE rig.  Truck, trailer and thank Heaven, my husband took hold of the horse so I didn't have to drag her along on the 100 yard move away from the perfumes loaded next to us.

Once moving and lit up, we had a wonderful time.  If only people wouldn't be so negative in their reactions to the people around them who tell them they stink... nicely, of course.  Well, moving along with the wagon, at least the fragrances passed fairly quickly and there were no heavy moments of distress.  It was good to get out.

As it turns out, the young lady riding with me has discovered she is reacting to fragrances as well, and not in a good way.  It is so sad because MCS never gets better, only worse.  She is only 22 years old!  You will never tell me that this isn't an every day, ever growing problem.

If only I could get out with the horse and wagon more often.  So many people would benefit by seeing or riding in the wagon with us.  In an UNFRAGRANCED society, we would be out all the time in lots of parades and events!

Start reading this blog from Day One... back in October 2013

Let us out.
Give us back our lives.

Please.
I can't even find a safe Primary Care Physician.  How sad is THAT!

My daughter hasn't spoken to me since I had an MCS meltdown at her wedding in October.

Do you REALIZE that showering in fragrance free products on the morning you have to go somewhere that is fragrance free is NOT going to get rid of the stench from your everyday use of fragrances in all the different products you use daily?  Fragrance CLINGS.  My mother passed away THREE YEARS AGO, and to this day if I open a box or even a book packed at her house, I still get blasted - and then I am sick for days and days....
I am so tired...
So tired of getting blinding headaches, lungs filling with fluid, coughing so hard it rattles my entire body and worse than all that, the horrible anxiety attacks and brain misfires - every time I want to leave my house.  I KNOW I am not alone in this.  12.6% of the American public to date and growing.

I don't care if you are registered to vote Republican, Democrat or Joe Bloe from down the road...

If someone in government is trying to pass information and make changes for the benefit of your overall health (and I am NOT talking about the Obamacare laws, whereas they are telling you to get healthcare or else, but of laws like the labeling of products to ensue you are AWARE of ALL ingredients and are able to make an informed decision) you should support them, no matter what designation you usually follow.

Cigarette packaging states plainly that they are bad for you and can cause cancer and other major health issues because you spent your life smoking or hanging out with someone who does.

Fast Food, now has to label detrimental ingredients and their percentages so you know if you will keel over from a heart attack or stroke without warning one day because you have done nothing but stuff yourself with greasy food loaded with trans fats.

Drugs, advertised daily on television and radio, billboards... have warnings listed or stated right then and there, so you can go to your Doctor, (lucky you) and say, "Hey Doc, I want THIS drug because I don't want to feel crappy anymore and I don't mind if it makes me nauseous, dizzy, gives me blackouts or thoughts of suicide..."

INFORMATION people!

Well, how about fragrance manufacturers by LAW having to actually label their products and provide warnings concerning the levels of CARCINOGENIC Toxins, VOCs and ingredients that can not only cause CANCER, but major HEALTH DEFECTS in children, THYROID DISEASE, INTESTINAL DISEASE, failing of vital organs, a MAJOR CAUSE of COPD, ASTHMA and possibly FIBROMYALGIA among a very long list of diseases currently given their own labels, but falling under the symptoms of CHEMICAL poisonings.

http://schakowsky.house.gov/press-releases/reps-schakowsky-markey-statement-on-introducing-the-safe-cosmetics-and-personal-care-products-act/

This is an important aspect of laws being made in this day and age.  Do you WANT to remain a Lemming, or do you WANT to be able to make your own decision with information available to you?
Do you WANT to continue to POISON the people around you or will you change your habits and begin using UNFRAGRANCED/UNSCENTED products in your home or on your person???
You don't have any excuse as I list a lot of safer products on this blog and the ewg.org website.

Is someone out there, hounded by fragrance manufacturers' lobbyists, SITTING ON THIS VERY MAJOR HEALTH ISSUE?!

YOU ASK.  CALL YOUR CONGRESSMAN - CALL YOUR SENATOR - GET OFF YOUR COUCH.

IS FRAGRANCE SO VERY IMPORTANT TO YOUR LIFE THAT YOU WOULD INTENTIONALLY HARM THOSE AROUND YOU BY WEARING IT ALL THE TIME??
I WOULD HAVE TO PLACE YOU IN THE SAME CATAGORY AS THOSE PEOPLE WHO STILL INSIST ON PUFFING AWAY IN PUBLIC WITHOUT GIVING A RATS' PATOOTIE ABOUT WHO THEY ARE MAKING SICK.

I know absolutely,

How the person who first got the light bulb going off in their head relating cigarettes and second hand smoke to CANCER.  If only, if only I could go back in time and meet these people and learn how they did it.  How they made people, business and GOVERNMENT realize that tobacco actually KILLED people.  How many years the media toted smoking and how COOL is was.  How cool is it when you are gasping for breath and have black lungs?

My lungs are getting weaker every time I have to leave my house for food, fuel or information and place myself anywhere near other people.  When my lungs fail, are the fragrance manufacturers going to step up and take responsibility? I hope I am alive to see the day when the first law suit against the big fragrance companies is won and they have to start taking responsibility for their actions.  I honestly hope that government officials are named in the suits as being the persons in powerful enough positions that are BOUGHT off by lobbyists rather than actually getting off the fence and making changes!

If those of us with severe MCS cannot walk into a doctors' office because of the toxins floating around in their environmental system and the people slathered in fragrance; because they are too ignorant to realize the danger they are putting themselves and everyone around them in, how in Heavens' name can we prove the illness is what we say it is.  The end of our lives, as we know it.
The end of walking away from our houses or even inviting someone TO our home.

As the Christmas Season approaches, the old adage "Good Will toward Men" comes to mind.  And yet, where is the good will when the instant I have to put my mask on or mention the fragrance "allergies" to someone, they snub me; stare at me; turn and walk away; or make a mockery of my distress?

I'm thinking that over generations, the general public has become lemmings, willing to follow when & where big business (ie, COMMERCIALS AND MEDIA) tell them.

OH, LOOK PEOPLE.  Someone is selling out your health for money.

Go figure.

I can only try to make you AWARE that each and every day, you slather on the toxins...

I am going to start getting BLATANT about my warnings to you.  SOMEONE has to.  I spent the morning out at a local swap meet, selling eggs and doing what I do, but WHY should I be afraid to hand someone, EVERYONE, my business card of AWARENESS!  Do I think they don't care, that they don't want to know they are being poisoned on a DAILY basis??  What I DO think is that the reaction I normally get when I ask someone to read my card or check out this blog is usually disbelief and often rudeness.  I hope that by drawing people to a blog where I NOT ONLY SEND OUT THE WARNINGS but ALSO back them up with information and SUGGESTIONS, unlike many who just tell you NOT TO... and don't give any advice on HOW not to....

I can't believe the websites and information I have found in proof of the toxins everyone using fragranced products are subjecting themselves to.  I also cannot believe that the general public is so blatantly led by the big manufacturers and perfume companies.  In all TRUTH, the toxins used in fragrances are as bad, if not WORSE than those in cigarettes; and yet, no one puts the warning labels on fragranced products.

Another website to substantiate my claims,  IF YOU HAVE ANY CARE TO YOUR OWN HEALTH AND SAFETY, PLEASE CONNECT AND READ THE FOLLOWING,

http://www.nontoxic.com/nontoxic/scentfreeorganizations.html

From the first page of the above website, and I quote text,

" (July 21) -- Most Americans use about 10 personal care products each day. The toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, baby powder and other things that we routinely douse or slather on our bodies expose us to at least 100 different chemicals. Many of these, public health experts say, have been linked to adverse health effects like cancer, birth defects and learning disabilities.
There is nothing that the Food and Drug Administration can legally do about it.
But that may begin to change as two Democratic lawmakers -- Reps. Jan Schakowsky from Illinois and Edward Markey from Massachusetts -- introduced the Safe Cosmetics Act of 2010 today. If passed, it will be the first meaningful effort to give the FDA the teeth, tools and mandate to protect consumers from harmful products that are used by almost everyone.
Under the current absence of oversight, it's legal for cosmetics companies to use virtually any ingredient with no pre-market safety assessment.
This has bothered many of FDA's risk experts and toxicologists, who say they're eager to have the authority to delve into the litany of potentially hazardous chemicals in these products.
"This law is absolutely needed and the authority it will give FDA is even more crucial now as many manufacturers are using nano-sized chemicals such as titanium dioxide in their cosmetic and health products," an FDA risk assessor told AOL News at the Institute of Food Technologists annual meeting in Chicago this week.
Some of what the legislation calls for includes:
Ingredients linked to cancer and birth defects being phased out of personal care products.
Health-based safety standards for all ingredients in cosmetics that includes protections for children and other vulnerable populations.
Required listing on product labels of all chemical ingredients in personal care products, including fragrances and contaminants.
Worker access to information about hazardous chemicals they may encounter in the manufacturing of personal care products.
Adequate funding and support of the FDA Office of Cosmetics and Colors to pay for this oversight of the cosmetics industry.
Few other details were available Tuesday night, when legislative staffers were still hammering out the final language .
Many in the public health community hope that the legislation will prevent the cosmetic industry from hiding behind the overused and lobbyists-protected "confidential business information" exclusion, which has for decades allowed companies to refuse giving regulators information.
"The industry insists it has to have the confidential business information rule, otherwise they [competitors] will know what is in our products," explained Stephenie Hendrick, environmental health media coordinator working with the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics and other groups.
"The scientists at the companies already know what are in each others' products. It's only the public that's kept in the dark."
The FDA is already conducting studies on some components of sunscreen.
Paul Howard, director of the FDA's office of Scientific Coordination, told a room filled with attendees in a daylong conference on nanotechnology that the FDA is completing studies on the use of nano-sized titanium dioxide in sunscreens. For four weeks, pigs were slathered with sunscreen with differing sizes of nanoparticles.
This is important because of controversy over the safety of titanium dioxide in many sunscreen and personal care products. He told the scientists that the preliminary studies showed the nanoparticles did not penetrate the skin deep enough to be harmful, but quickly added that more studies were being conducted.
A Long Time Coming
In 1938, Congress passed the Federal Food, Drugs and Cosmetics Act. Its provisions required new products to be shown safe before marketing. That pretty much never happened with cosmetics.
"This legislation would create a system that people think already exists -- one that requires companies to assess chemicals for safety and disclose all the ingredients in their products," Stacy Malkan, co-founder of Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, told AOL News.
"We all put these products on our bodies, and all of us are exposed to the toxic chemicals that are commonly found in cosmetics," she added, and cited the carcinogens formaldehyde and 1,4 dioxane, which are found in bath products and shampoos; phthalates in fragrances and the antibacterial agent triclosan.
Triclosan, which has become ubiquitous in scores of health care products, has a link to dioxin derivatives. That has raised concerns in several peer-reviewed animal studies that showed it can be highly carcinogenic and can weaken the immune system, decrease fertility, damage sex hormones and cause miscarriage and birth defects.
However, while the FDA says that triclosan is not currently known to be hazardous to humans, it nevertheless is doing studies on the health effects of the chemical. Its findings should be made public next spring.
Consumers Believe FDA Is Their Protector
Under the present law, FDA can't even begin to regulate cosmetics until they are already on store shelves, which means they can be sold to the pubic without safety testing of the product or its ingredients.
"Most people assume the FDA regulates cosmetics the same way it does food and drugs to ensure they are safe. In reality, cosmetics are one of the least-regulated consumer products on the market today," said Janet Nudelman, program director of the Breast Cancer Fund.
"When there are cancer-causing chemicals in baby shampoo and mercury in skin cream, you know the regulatory system is broken," she added
The Environmental Working Group has been studying cosmetics for years, and everywhere it has looked it has found hazardous or untested cosmetics ingredients.
Jane Houlihan, the group's vice president for research, said its testing has found that blood and urine samples from 20 teen girls from across the country were tainted with an average of 13 potential hormone-disrupting preservatives, plasticizers and other cosmetic chemicals.
Also, in umbilical cord blood from 10 newborn babies, synthetic musk fragrances were found to have crossed the mother's placenta to pollute the baby's body before birth, she added.
Houlihan called the proposed federal legislation "long overdue," saying it would finally close major gaps in the law, giving FDA real authority to ensure that personal care products sold in the U.S. meet a basic standard of safety."

Television Ads and the American Cancer Society

All around us, Calvin Klein, Chanel, Macy's among a plethora of others constantly making you believe that you will never get a mate, never look good, never be the hit of the party or anything else unless you REEK with their products when you walk out your door.

If you are old enough, you will remember cigarette advertising on billboards, magazines, television among just a few media hypes.  ONLY after people started dropping DEAD from CANCER caused by SMOKING AND the public start making noise, did the government step in and make laws to PROTECT the general public from the carcinogenic effects of cigarette smoke!!!

THINK ABOUT THAT.

BE AWARE that FRAGRANCES CAN HAVE AS MANY CARCINOGENS in them as cigarettes do!!!

YOU ARE POISONING YOURSELF AND EVERYONE AROUND YOU EVERY DAY!  BE AWARE!!

READ THIS BLOG.  FOLLOW MY LINKS.

EDUCATE YOURSELVES.  DON'T BE FOOLS THINKING THAT EVERY DAY YOU WAKE AND DOUSE YOURSELVES, CLEAN YOURSELVES OR YOUR HOUSES IN TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE... OR MORE PRODUCTS FRAGRANCED AND SCENTED WITH DIFFERENT MANMADE CHEMICALS, then wonder WHY you have ASTHMA, COPD, KIDNEY DISEASE, THYROID DISEASE or CANCERS.

YOU ARE BEING POISONED BY THE FRAGRANCED PRODUCTS YOU ARE USING!!

OF COURSE, you are thinking, "What a nay-sayer.  What a mouth.  WHY should I stop wearing and using Fragranced products?"

SIMPLY, because
THEY ARE BIG BUSINESS.
THEY ARE BIG MONEY TO COMPANIES,
HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANIES,
HEALTH (UN)CARE PROFESSIONALS
AND ESPECIALLY, DOCTORS

The American Cancer Society has a new ad on television.  Text to donate $10.  The ad has people walking around, talking to the camera, "There is a reason you don't see any cigarette ads out here..." (walking in a park), "There is a reason we know this is bad.." (suntan booth),  "There is a reason we know this is good." (Mammogram trailer).
WHAT THEY DON'T MENTION is the FACT that it isn't only cigarette smoke.  It is the new environment we live in, FILLED with carcinogens leaching from plastics, rubbers, growing exaust fumes and ESPECIALLY FRAGRANCES.
You can walk away from gas fumes, you can use glass rather than plastic, YOU can make decisions to protect yourselves... but what about the FRAGRANCES THAT ARE IN ALL THE PRODUCTS in your HOME AND on YOUR BODY that breakdown a body's healthy system and cause autoimmune reactions?  Colitis, Kidney disease, Thyroid disease... all related to a final breakdown in YOUR bodies.

THINK ABOUT IT, IF society actually beat the cancers.... where would all the money go?  Perhaps to make a better life for you and your family.

I am a secondhand sufferer.  You are poisoning yourselves and you are poisoning EVERYONE around you.

When you look your doctor in the eye and ask...

"I've been following a blog about MCS.  Multiple Chemical Sensitivity.  Why haven't you ever told me that the toxins in fragrance can be quite toxic to my body?  Why didn't you tell me that my asthma, my COPD, my stress, my colitis, my.... could be closely linked to the chemicals that manufacturers put in their products with fragrances?"

If the doctor hesitates AT ALL, consider them about to give you a solid link of horse poop and I don't mean the kind you can use on your garden.  I have learned the hard way that finding one who doesn't think you are an idiot and totally ignorant about how your own body is feeling is about as "rare as hens' teeth," to quote a VERY old saying.

When, IF they tell you as MANY have told me, that they can't tell people not to wear fragrance or use fragranced products or clean with fragranced chemical products, they are TAKING THE EASY WAY OUT.  They, once again, DO NOT CARE WHETHER YOU are SUFFERING or anyone else around you is suffering.  They care, bottom line, about the MONEY.

There are many, many, many hospitals and other health CARE facilities who put their patients FIRST.  Over and ABOVE the simplistic mind set of "backing off" or "sitting on the fence".

Several here, in links for YOUR information to pass on to YOUR lazy doctor.  Tell - NO - DEMAND they get off the fence and start treating with prevention, NOT with reaction;

Here are several Healthcare facility links, out of MANY that have strong FRAGRANCE FREE POLICIES in place at this time for both their staff AND their patients/visitors;

Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston
I QUOTE FROM THIS WEBSITE LINK,
Fragrance-controlled policies mock the wisdom of the doctors who "get it" for they are the ones who tell their patients: Avoid fragrances. One can buy and use one's own products that are free of petrochemical-derived fragrances, but we all are subjected to the chemicals used by others. We are secondhand users. We are ignored. Just check the increased rates of "unexplained" asthma for a starter. If we were listened to, I'd hazzard a guess that doctors would start telling their patients to not only avoid fragrances, but strive to get their workplace, school, healthcare facility, etc. to look for safer alternatives. And the doctors would carry that message forward too. "

WEBSITE QUOTE: "Fragrance-free ZonePlease be aware that Harrison has a no-scent policy. This applies to perfume, cologne, and flowers. When sending or bringing flowers to a patient, ask the florist to suggest less fragrant selections."

FRAGRANCE FREE IS
THE WAY TO BE
